"Transparency is a feature of light and functions as a transition between two and three dimensions. Unlike my paintings where I went from three to two dimensional space, I have reversed the emphasis bringing one closer to nature. Transparency provides a smooth transition between space and forms. Translucent qualities offer a play between the properties of space and a material surface. The interaction of soft and hard edges are symbolic of the illusiveness of the object and reality. Perhaps it is a record of the change from virtual to real objects. Objects are instances in time becoming substances or even waves of light. Because light gives extensibility to the illusory qualities of space, the geometry of forms are realized emerging from an infinite universe. Light helps to express the beauty and elegance in a world around me. The play of light seems to vibrate enhancing colors and space. Through the juxtaposition of the properties of space and light I can express the qualities of metal, glass, sculpture, transparency, shadow movement and a layering of forms.
